Rowing (Crew) is a wonderful sport that will help you get into, or maintain, top physical condition. Our Masters Rowing Program is a great way to meet other men and women (age 21 and up) who enjoy teamwork and a challenging workout.
Erging: We begin by teaching you how to row on indoor rowing machines known as ergometers or "ergs", for short. This is a great way for you to learn the important basics of the sport and get a no-impact, full-body workout!
Sweep Rowing: This is rowing in a four or eight seat boat with one oar per person. Team sweep rowing involves practices three times a week and four to six races over the spring, summer, and early fall. The practice schedule is determined by the coatch at the beginning of each season.
Cost and Membership: DBC offers erging sessions to non-members as an introduction to the sport. The price to non-members is $5/session. Once you have had a chance to see if this is something you'd like to continue, the cost to join the Dayton Boat Club is $250/calendar year for returning members, $200/calendar year for new members. Non-member session fees paid prior to joining DBC will be applied to your membership fee. This membership fee included access to our on-the-water programs, use of the club Peinerts and Dirigo single (after required appropriate training), and winter indoor rowing. Depending on what on-the-water program(s) you decide to participate in, there will be a program fee in addition to your membership fee.
Erging sessions will take place at the UD Men's Erg Room at 438 Stonemill (on UD's campus)
Sunday: 2:00-3:15
Wednesday: 8:00-9:15
Parking is available adjacent to the erg room.
