BULLETIN: Dayton Boat Club regrets to inform you that this event has been canceled due in part to delays in construction of our new boathouse. We hope to offer it again in the spring of 2024. Those who have registered and paid the fees will receive either refunds or automatic registration to the spring event. Thank you for your interest and support!

Introducing RUN DBC — the hippest fitness event of September. It's a 10K biathlon consisting of:
  • 5K on a Concept 2 rowing machine
  • 5K run/walk ​

It's not tricky ...

​The top three finishers in each age/gender category win medals. Age categories are 18 and younger; 19-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; and 60 and older.

Facts: Cost, time, location

  • Date of event: Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024
  • Ages: Open to people 14 and older
  • Early-bird registration: $50 per person for registrations completed by 11:59 p.m. Aug. 15
  • Regular registration: $60 per person after Aug. 15
  • Official RUN DBC shirt (breathable, moisture-wicking fabric in blue with race theme): $20; must be ordered on or before Aug. 15
  • Location: Dayton Boat Club, 3040 Great Miami River Recreational Trail (3200 block of East River Road) in Moraine, Ohio​
  • Time: The first flight takes off at 7:30 am.; a new flight takes off every 40 minutes.
  • Race classes: Men, women and nonbinary categories for the following age breakdowns: 15 and younger; 16-18; 19-29; 30-39; 40-49, 50-59; 60 and older.

Race details

  • ​The rowing machine portion of the race takes place outdoors on the grounds of the Dayton Boat Club.
  • The run/walk takes place on the Great Miami River Recreational Trail, starting and ending at Dayton Boat Club.
  • In the event of lightning, the event will be suspended and restart 30 minutes after the last strike.
  • The times of each participant's race components will be added together to constitute a composite finish time.

Environmental commitment

Please help DBC protect our waterways and natural areas from pollution. In order for this event to produce as little plastic waste as possible, please bring your own reusable water bottles filled with your own water.

    RELEASE OF LIABILITY IN CONSIDERATION of being given the opportunity to participate in any Dayton Boat Club activity, including scheduled, supervised club activities and competitions, I, for myself, my personal representatives, assigns, heirs, and next of kin:
    1. ACKNOWLEDGE, agree and represent that I understand the nature of athletic activities and that I am qualified, in good health, and in proper physical condition to participate in such activity.
    2. FULLY UNDERSTAND that: (a.) ATHLETIC ACTIVITIES INVOLVE RISKS AND DANGERS of serious bodily injury, including permanent disability, paralysis and death (“Risks”); (b.) these Risks and dangers may be caused by my own actions, or inactions, the actions or inactions of others participating in the Activity, the condition in which the Activity takes place, or the negligence of the Dayton Boat Club; (c.) there may be other risks and social and economic losses either not known to me or not readily foreseeable at this time; and I FULLY ACCEPT AND ASSUME ALL SUCH RISKS AND ALL RESPONSIBILITY FOR LOSSES, COSTS, AND DAMAGES I incur as a result of my participation in the Activity.
    3. AGREE AND WARRANT that I will examine and inspect each Activity in which I take part in this event; if I observe any condition which I consider to be unacceptably hazardous or dangerous, I will notify the proper authority in charge of the Activity and will refuse to take part in the Activity until the condition has been corrected to my satisfaction.
    4. HEREBY RELEASE, discharge, and covenant not to sue Dayton Boat Club, its coaches, program managers, administrators, directors, agents, officers, volunteers and employees, event organizers, sponsors, advertisers, and if applicable, owners and lessors of premises, on which the Activity takes place (each considered one of the Releasees herein), from all liability, claims, demands, losses or damages on my account caused or alleged to be caused in whole or in part by the negligence of the Releasee or otherwise, including negligent rescue operations; and I further agree that if, despite this release and waiver of liability, assumption of risk, and indemnity agreement, I, or anyone on my behalf, makes a claim against any of the Releasees, I WILL INDEMNIFY, SAVE AND HOLD HARMLESS each of the Releasees from any litigation expenses, attorney fees, loss, liability, damage, or cost which any may incur as a result of such claim, to the fullest extent permitted by law. I have read this agreement, fully understand its terms, understand that I have given up substantial rights by affirming it; I agree to it here freely and without any inducement or assurance of any nature and intend it to be a complete and unconditional release of all liability to the greatest extent allowed by law and agree that if any portion of this agreement is held to be invalid, the balance, notwithstanding, shall continue in full force and effect.
