Every December, the Dayton Boat Club begins its indoor training using rowing machines called ergometers to build strength, speed and endurance. New members are welcome and encouraged to join during the winter; besides being a great workout, it’s an opportunity to learn the mechanics of rowing before starting on the water.
The club offers a learn-to-erg program every winter, followed by two months of workouts. The next course is 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 15-16, 2018; register below. If you can't make the course, that is OK! Use the form below to contact the program coordinator for more information.
* Location: Downtown Dayton YMCA, 316 N. Wilkinson St.
* Practices: Four days per week; participants who plan to compete are encouraged to attend at least three workouts per week
* Cost: $300 for December through March ($50 for learn-to-erg course only; fee can be applied to winter dues)
New winter workout participants (also called "novices") are welcome to join the masters competition team after taking the learn-to-row class and rowing a season with the novice team.
