Every December, the Dayton Boat Club begins its indoor training using rowing machines called ergometers to build strength, speed and endurance in preparation for summer sprint racing. New members are welcome and encouraged to join during the winter; besides being a great workout, it’s an opportunity to learn the mechanics of rowing before starting on the water.
The club typically offers a learn-to-erg program in early February, followed by two months of workouts; however, those who wish to start earlier need not wait! Use the form below to contact the program coordinator for more information.
* Location: Downtown Dayton YMCA, 316 N. Wilkinson St.
* Practices: Four days per week; participants who plan to compete are encouraged to attend at least three workouts per week.
* Cost: $100 per month; winter workouts run through late March.
New winter workout participants (also called "novices") are welcome to join the masters competition team after taking the learn-to-row class and rowing a session with the novice team.
