Testimonials
Why The Dayton Boat Club?
Dayton Boat Club has built a solid foundation of competitive rowing in the Dayton area. Below are some testimonials that provide insight into our values and our success.
I have worked with Dayton B.C. for many years, and have found them to possess the two qualities that I believe are essential …
- They conduct themselves quite professionally. The coaches and athletes I have interacted with from Dayton are hard-working, passionate about what they do, and conduct themselves with manner that is reflective of a quality experience.
- They understand the qualities that are required in high-performance athletics. This is one of the biggest gaps that has existed in the U.S. Development System.
…the Dayton staff possess the qualities required to successfully start young rowers on the path toward excellence.

As for the DBC organization, they are already producing National Team members. They have a rigorous coach training/apprenticeship program, as well as a history of producing athletes that can perform at the highest level. They are able to push the athletes due to their ability to operate consistently productive and safe practice sessions. I consistently recruit DBC athletes. I know that they will be always be very well prepared young women

Rare is the day that I don't have a conversation with a parent in my store about the success or opportunities for Juniors at DBC
Countless friends and acquaintances have spoken with me about how their teenager found a home and a purpose at DBC, this is priceless.

DBC has been one of the premier clubs in the Midwest and in the country for many years now. I can tell you with confidence that this is due to the high quality of coaching we received as many of the programs whom we competed against came from more affluent areas, had newer equipment, and had a much longer history of success in the sport of rowing. My time with the Dayton Boat Club prepared me to row at the highest levels in college.
Now as a coach myself, I look back to my time with DBC as a transformative time in my life. It set me on the path to be the woman that I am today, and I owe everything to the coaching staff. Not only did they train me to be a successful rower, but they helped me become a more confident, strong, and capable woman in all areas of my life. They taught me how to work as a member of a diverse team, and that hard work and perseverance can take you wherever you want to go.

As an 8th grader, [the coach] encouraged me to give rowing a try, and as a tall and somewhat uncoordinated 14 year old, it was a sport I came to excel in. I can honestly say it was the best decision I have ever made. The opportunities that have come about as a result of my involvement in the Dayton Boat Club have helped me realize my true potential as an athlete. The passion and enthusiasm I inherited for the sport stems largely from my time at DBC; I grew in my confidence as an athlete, made life-long friendships, and cultivated my dream of one day competing on the National Team

We wanted to send a note of gratitude for all you did for [our daughter]. With great pride we watched her both graduate from college and compete in her final college regatta
…everything you taught and demonstrated to her has manifested itself in so many positive ways. Rowing has instilled in her an amazing work ethic and discipline, brought out a fierce competitiveness, made great friends at both levels, amazing fitness (of course), and a genuine love of the sport. At the same time, rowing gave her an opportunity to graduate from an amazing school.
None of this would be possible without DBC, your coaching, and what you instilled. Rest assured, we are grateful and thank you from our hearts.
